Healthy School
At Gwel y Glannau Federation, we are committed to creating a school environment that promotes health and well-being for all! Our Healthy Schools Programme encourages pupils to make informed choices about their health, develop lifelong healthy habits, and understand the importance of both physical and mental well-being.
A key part of this initiative is our School Health Council, which meets monthly to discuss action plans that support a healthier school environment. This council, made up of enthusiastic pupils and staff members, plays a crucial role in shaping our school’s approach to health and well-being.
Throughout the year, we run exciting projects and events focused on key health topics, including:
Healthy Eating: Encouraging balanced diets through healthy snacks in the tuck shop and school meal initiatives.
Physical Activity: Promoting active lifestyles with daily movement breaks, sports clubs, and special activity days.
Mental Well-being: Providing mindfulness sessions, peer support networks, and opportunities for pupils to share concerns in a supportive space.
Environmental Health: Fostering a cleaner, greener school through recycling programs, outdoor learning, and sustainability initiatives.
We also work closely with parents and the local community to reinforce the importance of healthy living at home and beyond. Our goal is to empower every pupil to take responsibility for their own well-being, making positive choices that will benefit them throughout their lives.
By embracing the Healthy Schools ethos, we are building a happier, healthier, and more successful school community. Together, we are making well-being a priority!
